Jimna Base Camp is the old Jimna State School. After closing in 2009, the school property has since been converted into a 2-acre, flat-level, unpowered campground with amenity blocks that offer refreshing hot showers and flush toilets. It is 6-acres of quiet seclusion, right in the heart of the township of Jimna, and kept as a well-known secret amongst its visitors.
The old Principal’s house is now a fully furnished 3-bedroom holiday rental. Perfect for those who don’t have the camping gear!
Jimna Base Camp is the perfect spot for general camping holidays or can be exclusively booked for your “Do It Yourself” group booking, events, weddings, training / conferences, and much more.
We are located in the tiny town of Jimna – the most northern part of the Somerset Region – and 40km north of Kilcoy, QLD. Home to the Heritage Listed Jimna Fire Tower, reportedly the tallest 3 pole timber fire tower in the Southern Hemisphere. (presently closed as restoration repair work is underway)

For optimal mobile reception, Optus is recommended, as there’s a tower on the town’s outskirts offering full-strength 4G. However, Telstra reception can be inconsistent — some phones may have good or limited signal, while others may experience no reception at all.
